ABOUT US

MISSION STATEMENT

Involvement Creates Opportunity

As the only Youth Social Services Organization focused on Park City local government and community enhancement, we know that today’s young-adults are the leaders of tomorrow. As an ongoing mission to empower our community’s youth, Park City Youth Council provides a neutral environment for young community members to reach and fulfill their potential as a contributing member to our local community.  We believe that local teens should have an easy way get involved while they are discovering who they are and what they believe in. Join us today to see how you can get involved.

WHY WE STARTED

Henry Retzer realized the need for a youth based organization when his uncle, Max Doilney, was running for for City Council in 2019.  Henry recognized teenagers in Park City knew very little about what was happening with local politics, and a platform that accommodated simple volunteer and education opportunities was needed. Henry created the Park City Youth Council with an aim to create a long lasting platform,  encouraging positive participation for teenagers in the Park City area through a wide range of opportunities to get involved. With the successful hand off of leadership to Maddie McHenry and Caroline Retzer for the 2023-24 school year, the PCYC offers a promising opportunity for local teens to become engaged locally.  PCYC values honesty, respect, and responsibility and is committed to going above and beyond to instill these values into the minds of our members.

HOW WE HAVE GROWN

Caroline Retzer and Maddie McHenry joined the PCYC during their Sophomore year at Park City High School. As Co-Presidents for the 2023-2024 school year they are committed to maintaining a sophisticated group of students so the PCYC will carry-on after their 2025 high-school graduation.  Maddie and Caroline have been nurturing and supporting the high school community involvement through careful recruitment of fellow local high-schoolers. McHenry and Retzer's efforts have lead to group members joining from Judge Memorial Catholic High School, Rowland Hall Saint Marks and Park City High School. The Park City Youth Council is committed to providing local teens educational and volunteer opportunities so Park City's future  generation has the skills and knowledge they need to contribute to our community.  From campaigning to attending legislative sessions, we have a variety of ways for teens to get immersed.  We are always looking to expand the PCYC's community involvement.  Please call or email us if you would like to join, or have an event PCYC members can participate in.
